Sea Glass

from Arch Frenemy by Arch Frenemy

/

about

This ballad uses the image of sea glass to represent falling from grace and being discarded, finding that everyones back is toward you and the world was never as it seemed before, and finally realizing that out of pain comes beauty and strength that no perfect piece of glass could ever attain.

lyrics

Lyrics

Like sea glass shards we lie
We can weather what’s thrown at us
All our faults in life
Wear smooth in time
Lost in storms, they’re gonna leave you cold son
But pain reforms and pain defines
Sure ain’t much but it’s yours to shine

*Sun burnt stains they never wanted, soon to glow
They turned on me- they turned on me
Treasures made no other way, pain and age imbue
They turned on me, they’ll turn on you

So easy to feel strong, Till you’ve stumbled and fallen
Till you’ve seen your friends, Hands on the firing pins
When waters flow, they wait to toss your bones into the briny foam
Even kings with golden wings are held up by strings
But broken shards, they have strength

*Sun burnt stains they never wanted, soon to glow
They turned on me- they turned on me
Treasures made no other way, pain and age imbue
They turned on me, they’ll turn on you
